The Chorus of Westerly's 39th Summer Pops Concert in Wilcox Park took place this past Saturday, June 22, beginning with a sudden downpour of rain to bless all of us in the park at 4:00.  But, oh my, what beautiful music followed from the sexy sounds of Paul Winter, the soothing sounds of Richard Cook's beautiful instruments to the fabulous sound of The American Band and the FANTASTIC Chorus of Westerly and Festival Orchestra.  What a night!!!

Rotarians under the tent were on the go all evening selling Mario's North End Pizza, The Malted Barley Pretzels, Del's Lemonade, Honey Dew Donut Coffee, as well as soda, water, popcorn and hot dogs, and McQuade's Ace Hardware for the loan of trash barrels.  Rotarian elves included President Kathryn Taylor, Rona & Dave Mann, Dan Alvino, Ted Avedesian, Steve Cofone, Kristina Dimova & Ivo Ivanov, Chris DiPaola, Walter Kimball, Bob & Suzanne Lane, Cal Lord, Rosemarie Russo and sons, Bill and Anthony. All around the park one might see our Summer Pops Leader Dr. Douglas Rayner.  Bob Elmer was the emcee for the evening's event.  We are very grateful to our vendors for their support and generosity, to the Westerly High School Honor Roll students (Maya Champ, Anna Cozzolino, Jordynn Celico, Sebastian Reisch, Aaron Tallardy) who helped us setup and packup, to Lee Eastbourne and The Jonnycake Center for their assistance from beginning to end, Margret Celico and Jack Lutzel for helping with packup.  It was a successful evening all around.  Thank you to everyone who participated in one way or another - especially everyone who visited the concession and bought something.
