So, the Rotary Club of Westerly had its first virtual meeting Monday evening.  Alan took the picture above of virtual attendees but Julie was on and off, although she didn't make it into the picture.  Rona and Ted were along on their phones.  Our Assistant District Governor Chuck Sauer was also in attendance and shared news that the District was offering special $1,000 grants to Clubs to provide funds to local Food Pantries and Baby Centers.  Our Board voted to apply for a grant to aid the Jonnycake Center.

After we took the opportunity to say hello and inquire as to everyone's family health, we opened the Board meeting and invited other attendees to stay on.  This discussion involved an update on Scholarships - the 2020 Committee includes Kathryn, Cal and Steve.  We should receive applications early in May.  Dan Alvino requested permission to plan a 2020 Pasta Dinner with the Lions Club to benefit the Jonnycake Center.

Rose discussed the 2019/2020 District Grant with Chair Kristine David - we were given the option of revising our grant to aid local food banks or extend the RTT Project to be completed in the Fall.  Dan Alvino will discuss with RTT and Westerly Middle School.  Kristine also mentioned the District Grant, non-matching funds, to aid  Covid 19 Disaster food assistance.

Doug shared that Summer Pops may take place some time in the Fall.  Fingers crossed......

Not sure when we will have another virtual meeting but it probably will be scheduled through "Go to Meeting" instead of "Zoom".  Will follow-up soon.
