Joseph Nigrelli, owner and founder of Nigrelli's Jewelry here in Westerly, passed away 12 August. His son Billy said "we were so lucky to have had him for 101 years" and yes, indeed we were. I remember meeting him for the first time back in 2008 and listening as he held court with one of his stories. He was a World War II veteran - one of the "greatest generation". He became a Rotarian on 1 April 1969 and was one of our most generous supporters as well. As the Student of the Month program continued year after year, Joe made sure that the plaques were provided at no cost to the Club. He gave of his time and abilities with no hesitation.
Mass will be at St Pius Church at 10:00am on 18 August, followed by celebration of life at Westerly Yacht Club after cemetery.
