Maria DiMaggio (Membership & Operations Director), Lisa Konicki (President) of Ocean Community Chamber of Commerce with our President Ted.

Lisa and Maria were so passionate about how important it is to get resources to local businesses in downtown Westerly.  Through Covid they went from four full-time employees to two.  They both put all the energy into building a community that everyone wants to live in.  The Chamber is sponsoring six events in the next six weeks:
The Pawcatuck Duck Race April 20 - in 2020 it had to be cancelled due to Covid but had already planned and purchased everything needed to pull it off.
Fusion May 6 - An adult event at Velvet Mill Studio with live body art and music by Sugar.
Sunday Funday May 8, 15, 22  12pm-8pm -  High Street will be closed to vehicles but great for foot traffic to local businesses, pop-up stores and local musicians.
Virtu  Memorial Day Weekend - Outdoor arts coming to Wilcox Park, featuring over 150 artists of music, painting, and other crafts from around the country.

The brought up a vision for December - selling stars for businesses to hang on their buildings to light up downtown Westerly, shooting stars through Wilcox Park as well.  They need to raise $75,000 for it to happen.  To date they have received $23,000.  Check out the website starrylight.org.  The display will be held the last three weeks in December.  The Stonington Lobster Trap Tree will take place as well, bringing foot traffic to area businesses.

They praised all the volunteers, as none of the events could be done without their participation.  They ended with how important it was to continue doing something special for the community.  Two remarkable ladies, for sure.
