Monday afternoon at 3:00pm a few of us assembled at Rotary Park in the Children's Garden to welcome Mackenzie Gitzendanner for the opening of our newest Little Free Library home.  Back in 2017 for her Senior Project at Westerly High School, Mackenzie, with the help of the high school carpentry students, built two Little Free Library homes - one for our Rotary Park Garden and the other went to the Bradford Community Center.  Through the years, the one in Rotary Park either was damaged by weather or vandals.  Elaine and Rotarian Derin Temel thought that we should do something about that.  And, of course, Doug accepted the challenge to make a new "home".  Mackenzie was presented with a bouquet of flowers to thank her for setting us on this path.  She has just graduated from college and we wish her all the very best with all the future has in store for her.  Elaine plans to monitor the library and keep it stocked.  While we were there, two young children who had been at the playground came in and were the first two select books.
Each book is stamped with the LFL special seal "Always a gift - never for sale"  - Rotary Club of Westerly at Rotary Park.  LFLs are in over 110 countries, over 100,000 LFLs and more than 208,000,000 made available to children and adults.
