Mr. Amore is a "lifelong resident of East Providence" and was a "teacher, coach and community volunteer for over thirty years."  He received his Bachelor's Degree from Providence College and his Master's Degree in Public Policy from New England College.  As Secretary of State, Mr. Amore is the State's third ranking elected official, after the Governor and Lt Governor.  His duties include registering voters, preparing ballots and administering oaths of office, working with companies registered to do business in Rhode Island.  State laws must be signed by the Secretary of State to become official.  The Secretary of State also regulates lobbying activity in the Executive and Legislative branches of State government and processes, preserves and gives public access to hundreds of historic documents and public records.
At our meeting on 28 October, Mr. Amore spoke about the election procedures and security taken to preserve the integrity of voter ballots.  He said that Rhode Island has the best, most secure process in the country.
