Our guest speaker Monday evening was Wendy Brown of Brown Group Realty.  Wendy was on the Board of Bricks and Murals and a major force for getting the Wall Dogs to come to Westerly.  Now her goal is to bring a Harmony Trail to Westerly.   What is this?  Well, imagine outdoor musical instruments - drums, chimes, bells - placed around downtown; and, as you walk around hopefully sampling food from our fantastic restaurants and shopping, you can also take a moment or two to make magic, to be creative, to just have fun playing one of these instruments.   They are made in the USA by Freenotes Harmony Park in Colorado Springs, CO, and they have been placed all over the world.  Not effected by climate, they enhance the environment with the sweet sounds evoked when played.  Built in various sizes, the sounds go from basso to soprano.  Newest instruments have been shaped into colorful flowers.
The downtown plan, a walking trail, will include about 10 - 12 instruments. Most of the instruments will be maintained by members of Bricks & Murals.  It is hoped that the instruments will be installed by June 22 - the day of the annual Chorus of Westerly Summer Pops Concert in Wilcox Park.

Wendy announced that there will be a Mardi Gras 2.0 event at The Knickerbocker on April 6, 2019 from 6:30 to benefit Harmony Trail.  Music will be provided by The Mystic Playboys.  Tickets purchased in advance at Bricksandmurals.org are $25 - and $30 at The Knickerbocker day of.  There will also be a "winner take all" raffle drawing - $25 per ticket - with a value of over $2,000.

For more information, Wendy suggests that you visit bricksandmurals.org.  As we normally do, President Kathryn presented a book, intended for the Westerly Children's Library, in Wendy's honor.
