Alex Nunes was the Executive Director at the Westerly Sun but he left that position to focus on journalism. He previously worked at The Day and has been working in the field for over 20 years. He said that local journalism is at the heart of a community's infrastructure - town news, local sports, local art activities - it is what connects us to what is going on. Print is no longer the major source of funding from advertising due to digital media so it has been a challenge for local news companies. New non-profit models are being considered as providing public service to communities. Alex has also expressed interest in becoming a member of our Club and has been attending meetings since is speaker visit.
